SALOON Paris was founded in may 2017 by curator Anne Roquigny together with gallerist and curator Valentina Peri. The monthly meetings are organized in emblematic Parisian venues: Institutions (Jeu de Paume, Centre Pompidou, IRCAM), Art Centers (Gaité Lyrique, Le Cube, Maison populaire) Cultural Centers (Swiss Cultural Center, Wallonie Brussels Center, Canadian Cultural Center) art galleries (Galerie Charlot, Galerie Under Construction, Plateforme) and artists’ studios. SALOON Paris organized a SALOON EXCHANGE Program between Berlin and Vienna in 2018 and is regularly proposing online meetings for the SALOON network, with open studios, conferences, performances... SALOON Paris is keen on keeping a balance within its members - artists, curators, producers, journalists... - and initiating collaborations connecting the network at a local and international level.
Valentina Peri (she/her) is an independent curator, artist and author based in Paris. Her work examines the role of technology in contemporary culture, with a focus on love and intimacy in the digital age, media histories and technologies in the anthropocene. She has curated exhibitions, published writing and given lectures on a broad range of topics in these areas. Her traveling exhibition Data Dating about love in the Internet age has been presented in Paris, Tel Aviv, London, Brussels, Geneva and Brescia. In the context of this exhibition, she co-edited an essay collection published by Intellect: “Data Dating. Love, Technology, Desire” (2021). In 2022, she started researching the phenomenon of Internet romance scams in West Africa, and published the book The New Romance Scammer’s Instructor, a collection of original messages from Ghanaian love scammers. She received a Fluxus Art Projects Grant in 2022 for her curatorial research on the history of dating: The Museum of Dating, presented in London in 2023. At this occasion she wrote and directed the film Joan Ball. The Lady of Computer Dating. She is a member of CEA - Commissaires d'exposition associés and Icom France. Since 2021 she has collaborated as a curator with peer to space, an independent international exhibition platform and curatorial collective. From 2011-21, Valentina was associate director and curator at Galerie Charlot Paris – Tel Aviv, a contemporary art gallery focusing on new media art.
Anne Roquigny (she/her) is a French independent media art curator specialized in hybrid digital projects related to networks, the internet, sound, visual arts and women empowerment. She is the creator of the Webjays project an innovative public display for curating and exhibiting online projects. Her WEBJAY performances, shows, workshops, conferences and publications have been presented internationally at renowned venues, festival and museums. She is co-directing, with David Guez, Hostanartist.com, an online exchange platform for property owners and artists. In 2017 she co-founded SALOON Pari with Valentina Peri, independent curator. She also launched the project « The Tip of the iceberg », a label and a research project about therapy, care, the clitoris, pleasure and women sexuality.
Emilie Fouilloux (she/her) is a scenographer based in Marseille. After collaborating with Charles Carcopino on the EXIT festival at the Maison des Arts Créteil, she joined the Chronique team between Aix and Marseille as exhibition scenographer (2018/2020/2022) and exhibition co-curator with Mathieu Vabre (2018). With Boris Labbé, she recently co-signed the set design for the show Glass house for the ensemble Cairn. She participates in numerous shows as a video director (Ballet Preljocaj, Hubert Colas...). She recently teamed up with Fouad Bouchoucha to co-direct Standart, a platform dedicated to the 3D digitization of temporary exhibition spaces. She thus navigates between artistic production and technical support, from the world of live performance to that of exhibitions. Her personal accompaniment is also reflected in her practice of Sophrology, which she opened in Marseille. In June 2023, she joined the board of SALOON Paris.
