SALOON Hamburg represents the vivid and brilliant fine art scene of the Nordic German city. It is a non-profit network for women identifying and non-binary art professionals, bringing together curators, artists, art historians, gallerists, academics and journalists. Through regular meetings — including studio and exhibition visits, panel discussions and public events — SALOON Hamburg fosters exchange, strengthens professional relationships, enhances visibility and supports the empowerment of its members, both locally and within the international SALOON Network.
Founded in 2018 by Dr. Franziska Storch and Charlotte Gaitzsch (board member in Hamburg from 2018–2023, Network Relations Team member since 2023), SALOON Hamburg will be led from 2026 onwards by a new board
consisting of Hannah Bode, Si-Ying Fung, Bärbel Praun and Andrea Richter. The board represents a diverse group of art and cultural practitioners working
across visual arts, art history, curatorial practice and journalism. Together, they are committed to continuing and further developing SALOON Hamburg as an inclusive, supportive and
intersectional network.

To apply for membership, please send a short cover letter outlining your motivation to join (What are you looking for? What could your contribution be? Max. half a page in German or English), your CV (max. one page), and — optionally — a website, Instagram profile or portfolio to [email protected].

Hannah Bode (she/her) is in the final stages of her master's degree in art history at the University of Hamburg. In her research focus on contemporary art and modernism, she is particularly interested in queer-feminist and postcolonial perspectives. She has been living in Hamburg since 2019 and has since worked in different areas of the arts and culture sector. In 2021, she worked for the Virtual Reality and Arts Festival Hamburg (VRHAM!), in 2021/22 at the heliumcowboy artspace gallery for the feminist exhibition "NATÜRLICH." and in 2025, through her support of curator Dr. Annabelle Görgen-Lammers in the extensive exhibition project "Rendezvous der Träume. Surrealismus und deutsche Romantik" at Hamburger Kunsthalle. Since 2022 she has been organising the programme of the Junge Freunde of the Freunde der Kunsthalle e. V. Additionally, she works for the POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair and where she was promoted to Head of Art Guides in 2024. She also volunteers at nachtspeicher23 e. V., an offspace gallery in St. Georg.

Si-Ying Fung (she/her) is a visual artist and art and culture mediator. In her objects, drawings, and installations, she explores the relationship between place and identity, belonging, labels, and categories, and their failure. The relationship between place and identity and the feeling of belonging are important topics to her. After studying Chinese studies and art history (University of Hamburg), illustration (HAW Hamburg), and fine arts (Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design), and as a guest student at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, Si-Ying Fung (she/her) now lives and works as a visual artist and art and culture mediator in Hamburg. She was a scholarship holder of the DAAD, the Claussen-Simon Foundation, Artist in Residence at the Salzamt Linz (AUT), the Totatoga Cultural Cluster in Busan (KOR), and the Sasso Residency in Vairano (CHE).

Bärbel Praun (she/her) is a visual artist working at the intersection of photography, sculpture and installation. Her current bodies of work address the relationship between object, material and space, the value of our everyday material world and the visibility of process and time. Complex and often invisible issues such as climate change, resource exploitation, and ecological responsibility shape both the content and methodology of her work. Fragility and ephemerality are central to her process-oriented practice, alongside questions of balance, interdependence, and coexistence. Since 2020, she has been part of the Italian-German artist duo Celata & Praun. Recent exhibitions include: Kunstverein Wagenhalle Stuttgart (DE), Espaço Mira (PRT), La Biennale dello Stretto (IT), Galerie Heike Strelow (DE), and the XXIII Cerveira International Art Biennial (PRT). Praun was recently a scholarship holder and guest artist at the Bienal de Cerveira in Vila Nova de Cerveira (PRT), and Atelier Josepha in Ahrenshoop.

Andrea Richter (she/her) is a journalist, author and director specialising in visual arts and contemporary culture. She has been working for public broadcasters such as NDR and ARTE for many years, contributing to formats including NDR Kultur – Das Magazin, ttt – titel thesen temperamente and the ARTE culture magazine TWIST, where she serves as head author. She studied Visual Communication as well as Art Theory and History at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg, graduating with distinction. Richter’s work combines art-historical expertise with strong visual and media literacy, focusing on contemporary artistic practices and cultural discourse. Since 2024, she has been pursuing a part-time Master’s degree in Digital Journalism at Hamburg Media School.
